Work Approach

A collaborative, transparent process that engages stakeholders at every level.

People-focused. Data-driven. Action-oriented.

Assess Our first call will help me better understand your needs and determine if I'm the right fit to help. Following the call, you will receive a custom proposal outlining the anticipated timeline, deliverables, and budget.

Kickoff We begin with a kickoff meeting to clarify your goals, define your target audiences, reflect on desired brand perception, identify your competition and brand differentiators, and examine available data.

Discovery I typically follow up our kickoff meeting by engaging staff and other stakeholders to get input, secure buy-in, and gain a deeper understanding of operational realities.

Planning After gaining a thorough understanding of your organization, I begin developing a strategic plan to address the scope of support we've agreed upon. The collaborative planning process includes regular updates, open communication, and revision. We end this phase with a month-by-month marketing and fundraising plan in hand.

Implementation With the plan prepared, we'll begin taking action. If needed, I can support you by rolling up my sleeves and doing everything from writing to staff mentorship. I am also available to attend weekly staff meetings and help you use data in real-time to adjust your strategy, making it most effective.

We were struggling with marketing and communications and couldn’t figure out what to do first. Lauren created a detailed plan that we were able to implement. The process left us well-positioned to move forward thanks to comprehensive communications and development strategy that just didn’t exist before Lauren came along.

You may be wondering…

How long does it take to develop a marketing or fundraising strategy?

Typically, it takes two to three months to develop a plan. This time is spent understanding your organization’s goals and pain points; familiarizing myself with your data, operations, and staff; and building and revising a resource-specific, action-oriented plan. The timeline for implementation support varies based on your specific needs.

What types of organizations do you work with?

I support nonprofits, educational institutions, and mission-driven small businesses across the Greater Boston area and beyond that are doing good in the world. If you are ready for a fresh perspective, willing to take an honest look at where you excel and where you fall down, and interested in a collaborative process that will empower you to work more effectively, we should talk.

Do you only work with local clients?

While I’m based in the Greater Boston area, I’m happy to engage organizations across the country through virtual technology and tools.

What if we need help outside of your realm of expertise?

No one can know it all! In addition to working to draw on the experience and talents of your existing team, I’m grateful to have a skilled network of experts to call upon—including graphic designers, major gift fundraising consultants, event planners, and web developers.
